A Swiss International Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration HB-JHF performing flight LX-14 from Zurich (Switzerland) to New York JFK,NY (USA), was enroute at FL330 about 180nm west of Brest (France) about to enter the Atlantic Crossing when the crew decided to return to Zurich due to a hydraulic failure. On approach to Zurich the crew advised they needed to stop on the runway, a tow truck was needed to tow them to the apron, if there was any precipitation at Zurich they could only accept light rain for landing on runway 16, they had sufficient fuel to hold for 2-3 hours. Approach advised the runway was wet and there was presently just light rain, so they probably were able to accept the approach. The aircraft landed safely on Zurich’s runway 16 and rolled out safely coming to a stop just short of the last turn off E8. The engines were shut down, the aircraft was towed to the apron.
