NEW YORK/PROVIDENCE (MARCH 7, 2017) – Norwegian, the World’s Best Low-Cost Long-Haul Airline and Europe’s Best Low-Cost Airline, today announces the launch of its fourth nonstop Scandinavian destination with two new routes from Stewart International Airport and T.F. Green Airport to Bergen Airport Flesland beginning this July. These new routes will operate on the new Boeing 737 MAX, which has significantly lower environmental emissions than comparable aircraft thus making transatlantic flights even less expensive.
“We are pleased to launch these two new routes from New York and Rhode Island to Bergen so that thousands of Americans and Norwegians can fly cheaply and comfortably between the east coast of the United States and the west coast of Norway,” said Thomas Ramdahl, Chief Commercial Officer at Norwegian. “Travelers can opt for short weekend jaunts or longer stays giving an economic boost to the economies on both sides of the Atlantic. These new routes would not have been possible without the strong support from Stewart International Airport, T.F. Green Airport and the local authorities in New York and Rhode Island.”
“We welcome these new routes to Bergen Flesland and are proud to be the first airport in Scandinavia with air services operated by the Boeing 737 MAX. Norwegian’s new connections make traveling easier also for Americans. For many tourists, Bergen is the first introduction to Norway and a gateway to the iconic fjords. We are now building a new air terminal that will be ready in mid-August,” said Aslak Sverdrup, Airport Director at Bergen Airport Flesland.
Norwegian’s new Scandinavian routes will operate seasonally during the summer and are now available for purchase at norwegian.com/us with fares starting as low as $89 one-way including taxes. Flights will operate twice weekly from Providence on Tuesdays and Saturdays beginning on July 1, 2017, and twice weekly from New York on Sundays and Thursdays beginning on July 2, 2017. The lowest available fares to any of Norwegian’s destinations can be found by reviewing the low fare calendar.
With these new routes, Norwegian offers 57 routes from the U.S.; 50 to Europe and seven to the French Caribbean. Other upcoming 2017 launches from the U.S. include: Oakland/San Francisco to Copenhagen (March 28); Los Angeles to Barcelona (June 5); New York/Newark to Barcelona (June 6); Oakland/San Francisco to Barcelona (June 7); Orlando to Paris (July 31); and Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona (August 22).
