Before even arriving in Brazil for the 2016 Summer Olympics, 2 members of the United States women’s beach volleyball team were under pressure. April Ross and Brooke Sweat were set to fly on an American Airlines flight from Miami to Rio de Janeiro this week, in time for the Opening Ceremony on Friday August 5, 2016.
However, potential disaster struck when their flight was delayed. Not surprisingly, flights heading into Rio de Janeiro a few days before the start of the Olympics were packed. April Ross posted on her Instagram account that she was told American Airlines could get her into Rio de Janeiro on Saturday – the day after the Opening Ceremonies.
Fortunately for the duo, United Airlines came through. They worked with the United States Olympic Committee and were able to get the volleyball stars on to a flight to get them into Rio in time for the Olympics!
With the catastrophe averted, April Ross again shared the good news on Instagram.
