A United Boeing 737-900, registration N39416 performing flight UA-1179 from Las Vegas,NV to Houston Intercontinental,TX (USA) with 162 people on board, was climbing out of Las Vegas when the crew stopped the climb at about FL180 and decided to return to Las Vegas reporting an overtemperature indication for one of the engines (CFM56). The aircraft landed safely back on Las Vegas’ runway 25L, emergency services reported seeing no smoke as the aircraft rolled out. The aircraft vacated the runway and taxied to the terminal, where passengers disembarked normally.
The flight was cancelled.
