A TAP Air Portugal Airbus A340-300, registration CS-TOB performing flight TP72 from Rio de Janeiro Galeao,RJ (Brazil) to Lisbon (Portugal), was in the initial climb out of Rio’s runway 10 when the crew stopped the climb at 7000 feet reporting a problem with the flaps. The aircraft dumped fuel for about 40 minutes and returned to Rio de Janeiro for a safe landing on runway 10 about one hour after departure.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Rio about 19 hours later.
