Sun Country Airlines is adding nonstop service between Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and Portland International Airport in Oregon.
The new route starts June 9, according to the Mendota Heights-based airline’s ticket-booking website. Flights are scheduled four to six days per week through Jan. 3, 2017, depending on the season.
-Sun Country Flight 295 will usually leave Minneapolis at 9:55 a.m. and arrive in Portland at 11:35 a.m., a flight time of 3 hours 40 minutes.
-Sun Country Flight 296 leaves Portland at 12:25 p.m. and arrives in Minneapolis at 5:35 p.m, a flight time of 3 hours 10 minutes.

The flight will compete with a route by Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines, which is the dominant carrier in Minneapolis. Alaska Airlines will also start new daily nonstop flights between Minneapolis and Portland Feb. 18.
