Scoot launches first European route

SINGAPORE — Budget carrier Scoot will begin flying to Europe from next year, the airline announced on Tuesday (Aug 16).
Its first destination will be the Greek capital of Athens, due to commence from June 20, 2017. The new service marks the budget carrier’s first long-haul flight between Asia Pacific and Europe, and it will also be the longest flight operated by a low-cost carrier with the flight distance exceeding 10,000km.
The Singapore-Athens route will be serviced by Scoot’s fleet of Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners. The planes are fitted with eight crew bunks and a total of 329 seats, including 18 in ScootBiz.
There will be four flights from Singapore to Athens per week, taking off at 2am (Singapore time) and arriving in Athens at about 8.30am (Athens time).
From Tuesday to the end of the month, Scoot is offering one-way fares to Athens starting from S$288 (inclusive of taxes) in economy class and S$888 in business class.
