National Airlines on Monday started its twice-weekly, nonstop service from Orlando Sanford International Airport to St. John’s International Airport in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
National launched its first passenger service last month with a route to San Juan, Puerto Rico. It also flies from Orlando Sanford to Windsor, Ontario. National, which operates its maintenance hub at Orlando Sanford, has worked with the Department of Defense for more than 20 years, as well as operating cargo flights.
Further expansion is expected by National, which has its headquarters near downtown Orlando among nine offices listed on its website.
“We’re looking at a lot of different opportunities, including some other areas up in the Northeast U.S. that don’t have the type of service that they would like to have into South Florida,” National CEO and president Ed Davidson said last month.
Orlando Sanford International Airport Director Diane Crews said at the time of National’s launch that Central Florida is driving demand for service as a destination.
“There’s a demand for service, clearly, in the area,” Crews said.
Reservations can be made at NationalAirlines.com or by calling 855-757-6999. National’s fare include a free checked bag, reserved seat and meal.
