MN-483 suffers bird strike

MN-483 suffers bird strike

February 7, 2016 By Sebastien

A Kulula Boeing 737-800, registration ZS-ZWA performing flight MN-483 from Lanseria to Cape Town (South Africa), was climbing out of Lanseria’s runway 25 when the left hand engine (CFM56) ingested a guinea fowl causing damage to fan blades. The crew stopped the climb at FL110 and diverted to Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport for a safe landing on runway 03R about 30 minutes after departure.
A replacement Boeing 737-300 registration ZS-VDB reached Cape Town with a delay of 3.5 hours.
