Military plane crash kills 22 in Ecuador

(CNN)A plane carrying Ecuadorian military personnel crashed Tuesday in the eastern Pastaza province, according to a statement from Ecuador’s army.
Twenty-two people were on board the training flight. President Rafael Correa said in a tweet that all 22 died.
“There are no survivors,” wrote Correa. “It’s a tragedy.”
The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
It in statement, the army said that the plane and its occupants — two pilots, a mechanic and 19 paratroopers — were taking part in a training exercise.

A military plane crash in Ecuador’s jungle on Tuesday killed all 22 people on board, President Rafael Correa has announced.
Nineteen soldiers had been heading to a parachuting course when the aircraft went down in the Pastaza province of the country’s Amazon region.
Two pilots and one mechanic, also members of the army, were also killed.
