A Zagros Air McDonnell Douglas MD-82, registration EP-ZAE performing flight IZG-4065 from Tehran Mehrabad to Bandar Mahshahr (Iran) with about 100 people on board, was enroute near Ahwaz (Iran) when the crew received a fire indication for the right hand engine (JT8D), shut the engine down and activated the fire suppression system. The aircraft diverted to Ahwaz for a safe landing.
The passengers were bussed to Bandar Mahshahr.
The engine fire indication was identified false.
