The airline company Air France could take several Sukhoi SuperJet leased SS100, Russian aircraft manufacturing, to perform flights from Paris to London.
Irish airline CityJet and Air French company Air France is currently discussing the terms of a contract under which they would buy more Sukhoi Superjet SSJ100 Russian-made aircraft in wet lease (ie -to say leased with a crew on board), reports the Russian news website Gazeta.ru. This decision could be made to replace the old unit of British Aerospace Avro RJ85 and BAe 146, before the acquisition of fifteen new aircraft.
According to the plan, the first flights could be carried out between Paris Orly airport and the London City. Sukhoi SuperJet SSJ100 is among the few devices that are able to take off and land on the short runway at London International Airport which is located almost in the center of the British capital. The glide slope for landing there is strong and few aircraft are able to achieve this performance.
CityJet has reached an agreement with Russia on October 13 for delivery of fifteen SSJ100-95, with an option for ten additional aircraft. These aircraft will be configured to accommodate 98 passengers in a single class, with a standard layout of rows 2 + 3, a space between the rows of 32 inches and a ceiling height of 2 meters.
The first four SuperJet should be delivered in the first quarter 2016 and used for charter flights, the eleven others will join the fleet in 2017 CityJet.
CityJet will become the first European airline to fly the SuperJet, during the first half of 2016.
