An Air Europa Embraer ERJ-190, registration EC-LKX performing flight UX-7234 from La Coruna,SP to Madrid,SP (Spain), was descending towards Madrid when the crew received indication of an aft door being open. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Madrid’s runway 18R.
Spain’s CIAIAC reported in their notification of opening an investigation into the occurrence that after passengers had disembarked mechanics were called to investigate the door indication. During the maintenance work a mechanics rushed off the aircraft and received serious injuries about 40 minutes after the aircraft had landed. The preliminary report, while only mentioning serious injuries in the textual abstract, lists the mechanics as having died in the victim table.
The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 2 hours after landing.
